this is all tied into the city's speed camera program. as we know there's a huge public outcry which has generated $85 million last year. and right here on new york avenue westbound, the cameras just a little ways behind me brought in $5.4 million in revenue. not clear if the higher speed limit will reduce those speeding signs but it's part of mayor gray's comprehensive review. let's take a look at the speed changes as of 12:01 this morning. new york avenue eastbound to the maryland line is going up to 45. westbound it is going from 35 to 40. then on bladensburg road it's going from 25 to 30. north capitol street from michigan avenue to harol road. and canal road from chain bridge to foxhall. >>> four cities with speed camera programs is to make sure the speed limits are appropriate for the roadways. ddots reassessment shows the changes can be made without compromising safety. in november the mayor also as part of this review increased the speed limit on benning road and parts of 295. that was the most ticketed roadway bringing in $23 mil
